If you couldn't make it this time that's okay, but we'll be looking for you in five years for our 40th Reunion!

We met at Susan's for conversation and catching-up on what everyone's been doing since last time. It was delightful. We gathered in the living room so that Dean Harwood could tell us all about what WC is doing, how very vital our college is today, and its plans for the future. She was an enthusiastic, dynamic speaker and you would have loved hearing her. Then we moved to the dining room for more talk, plus cheeses, crudités, and fruits with chocolate dipping sauce. Of course, we congregated in the kitchen / den to look at Margaret's group pictures from past reunions, talk some more, and continue questioning Dr. Harwood about life at Westhampton. It was late when we finally headed to home or hotels.

On Saturday morning there was a tour of the Modlin Center for the Arts plus coffee and danish (but most of us missed that early call and the classes offered at the "Alumni College"). But we were ready at noon, because the University had arranged a picnic (indoors since it was threatening to rain) at the Jepson Alumni Center. This was the Bottomley house that U of R moved from south of River Road to the position just behind the President's house on College Road, near the Westhampton Gate. If you haven't had a chance to tour it, be sure you do so when you come to the 40th Reunion - 2005, because it is so impressive. Alumni from all classes were there for cold cuts, hot dogs, salads, desserts and beverages. There was a band, and even balloon sculpting for the kids. We hopped one of the trolleys for a guided tour (by a RC sophomore) of the campus. The nice thing was that you could get off any time to sightsee and catch the next one. We stopped at the Tyler Haynes Commons (where the bridge used to be) bookstore, walked the lake path to the gazebo for photos, then climbed the hill to the Greek Theatre and the dorms. Students were packing to leave so most of the rooms were open - and did we visit! Some rooms had been deleted to create suites, and some had been converted to faculty office space - but we found all we wanted as we wandered through North Court (Rat Alley, Rat Hole, the Tower) and South Court.

Saturday evening's event was held in the Modlin Center for the Arts which connects to Keller Hall. Did you know that the swimming pool is gone? Everyone now uses the physical education facilities at the Robins Center. The evening was highlighted by an explanation of Richmond Quest and a student produced videotape of the University. This is the admissions video that is sent to high schools to publicize the University, and it is wonderful. No one really wanted to call it quits (or to attend the party at the Greek Theatre) so we returned to Susan's den for more conversation 'til about eleven. It was so hard to leave, but so easy to know that we'd stay close in spirit and see each other soon - 40th Reunion - 2005!
