Tuckahoe Squares

Basic Information

We call ourselves "The Friendly Club". Anyone who walks in our door is a friend. We pride ourselves on making sure that everyone dances.

We do a number of things a bit differently from most other clubs in this area:

• We hire a hall for our weekly dances.
• We have a formal dance every week.
• We often have line-dancing instruction between tips.
• We go "dark" only a few weeks each year. Usually on holidays, before major conventions and when we are sponsoring a Saturday Night Dance.
• We often schedule guest callers.

We charge the same as most other clubs ($3 per person for visitors, $9 per person per month for members). How can we afford to pay for a hall every week? Because lots of folks visit us and help us pay the rent! Please come!

Because our weekly meetings are actual dances, the usual square dancing dress code applies (except in the summer). However, we realize that sometimes folks do not have time to change after work. We would rather have you come and dance with us as you are than not come at all.

The Tuckahoe Squares started beginner square dance classes, taught by Gene Chamberlain, on September 22, 2004,

Classes meet every Wednesday from 7:15pm to 9:15pm. The classes on the 22 & 29 are free. Classes will run for 14 weeks not counting the two free ones plus one all day Saturday after the 14th class. Cost is $60.00 per person for the entire course. Gene Chamberlain is the caller/instructor. If anyone needs to call for additional info, call 282-1631. Young people are invited but must be accompanied by their parents who are also taking the class. The last date for someone to begin would be October 6.
