The Virginia Capital Chapter

The Virginia Capital Chapter, Virginia's first TU chapter, was formed in Richmond in 1971 by the late Joe Brooks, author of numerous fishing books. We provide low cost instruction in fly fishing and fly tying, and free casting clinics. Chapter members participate in statewide conservation activities, including stream cleanups, water quality testing, and stream surveys. We help to provide funding for stream improvement projects, and for litigation to preserve the right of access of Virginians to public waters. The chapter has been honored by the National Forest Service for its work on its adopted stream, the North Fork of the Buffalo River. The chapter also collects and disseminates information regarding pending legislation and administrative regulations of interest to fishers. Chapter members fish around the country, and around the world, for many species of fish, and freely share their knowledge of destinations and techniques. Sometimes, we even tell fish stories....

Our regular meetings take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Board Room of the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries at 4010 West Broad Street in Richmond. Visitors (even non-fishers) are always welcome!
