Legislative Goals

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE - JUNE 18, 2003

We will continue fighting to protect VRS funds from budget raids and pushing for an updated legislative study of the our retirement system. This study, requested by VRS officials, would seek ways to strengthen the system and increase retiree benefits. While the current budget crisis forces us to "put on hold" all legislation requiring additional funding, we will work to keep legislators aware that our needs are still there and must be addressed when the economy improves. We also be keeping a close watch on the proposed restructuring of Va. tax laws which could adversely our age deductions. Stay tuned.
