In this light-hearted play we meet young Timothy
Schoolboy, who does not like arithmetic and is inclined to throw his homework into the
river. He is brought to the court of King Arithmetic by Sir Problem, who introduces
him to four royal princesses: Addition, Division, Subtraction and the lovely
Multiplication. Lord Calculation, the court magician, questions the boy, using his
magic to help Timothy learn to appreciate the importance of mathematics. With loads
of comedy as well as help from the Numbers (the Lords and Ladies of the court) and
the Dollars and Cents (the royal guards), Timothy soon learns to understand his math
problems and look forward to his next math class. This fun-filled 30-minute show features colorful costumes and plenty of audience participation to keep even young play-goers engaged and entertained. The Touring company will take this lively production to
regional schools two Fridays monthly from October through May. To make arrangements
for your school or group to see The Court of King Arithmetic, use this form or call the
CSPA office at 828-2772 and ask for Una Harrison.
